April 12, 2022 City of Pacific Grove Special Tax Measure Election

An election will be held on Tuesday, April 12, 2022 for voters residing within the boundaries of the City of Pacific Grove to decide a special transactions and use tax measure. Pursuant to Assembly Bill 37, all active voters will receive a ballot in the mail. Voters may choose how they return their ballot or if they will vote in person.

Measure A

Shall Pacific Grove Municipal Code be amended to increase the City’s current 1% transactions and use tax to 1.5%, until amended by subsequent vote, as a general tax to generate an estimated $1,126,000 or $1.1 million annually, to fund capital needs; maintain public safety and emergency preparation; enhance City infrastructure including roads, parks, trees, trails, and beaches, and invest in community facilities; and provide general City services, with all revenues requiring an annual independent audit?

A change in law requires that each active voter be mailed a ballot for any election in which they are eligible to vote.

 

How can I return my ballot?

You can return your ballot in the mail, postage is paid, or to a return box or in-person voting location listed on the ballot cover page in your mail packet.

 

Can I vote in person?

Yes. Bring your ballot to your assigned voting location on April 12, 2022 to vote in-person.

 

What do I do if I make a mistake on my ballot?

If you make a mistake on your ballot, you can simply make a notation correcting your vote. Please do not initial or sign your name after the correction. You can also call us and ask for a replacement ballot.
